Sprinkler fire extinguishing system
Sprinkler stable installations One of the oldest and most widespread types of stable installations that use water for extinguishing are Sprinkler installations.
WHERE IS IT USED?
This type of installation is used to extinguish different types of buildings that can be of different fire loads, from small, such as hotels, museums, hospitals, schools, through medium-sized ones such as garages, department stores, light industrial plants, to heavy such as the chemical industry, various warehouses, paint and varnish industries, textile industry, etc.
ADVANTAGES
The advantage of the sprinkler device is easy maintenance and high extinguishing efficiency.
In the event of a fire, only that part of the system that is located in the area affected by the fire is activated, so that the damage caused by water is significant less than the damage caused by firefighting.
ACTIVATION
The principle of activating the sprinkler nozzle is based on the bursting of the ampoule that keeps the nozzle closed, at a temperature that is about 30˚C higher than the highest expected operating ambient temperature.
When a fire occurs and the temperature rises, activation of sprinkler nozzles which enables the exit and spraying of water from the pipeline which is under pressure of water or air (in dry systems).
TYPES OF INSTALLATIONS
There are two types of sprinkler installations that are similar in construction:
- Wet sprinkler system is used in rooms where there is no danger of freezing or evaporation of water, where the pipeline is constantly filled with water under pressure
- Dry sprinkler system in whose pipeline there is compressed air and it is used in rooms where there is a danger of freezing. By installing such installations, we reduce possible fire damage by 80%.
