Drencher fire extinguishing system
Water extinguishing systems that have open nozzles are called Deluge or Drencher systems.
ABOUT THE SYSTEM
Deluge – Drencher system is a stable fire extinguishing system used for cases where the spread of fire at high speed is possible, with the aim of slowing down the spread and extinguishing of fire.
WHERE IS IT USED?
It is used to separate the part of the area affected by fire (water curtain), it is also used in cooling tanks in the oil industry for liquids that have a low flash point such as motor gasoline, meaning to extinguish these plants. They can also be used to apply extinguishing foam. Such systems are widely used in protection in the military industry, in the production of gunpowder and explosives.
ACTIVATION
Since there is no heat-sensitive element on the nozzles, and the air in the pipeline is under atmospheric pressure, the drencher valve can be activated in different ways depending on the space being protected:
- Pneumatic activation, has a pneumatic pipe filled with air up to a certain pressure
- Hydraulic actuation, via water or some other liquid medium
- Electrical activation via fire alarm pulse or similar
- Manual activation via the chamber relief valve on the drencher valve After the activation signal is issued, in any of these four ways, the station is activated and the extinguishing water passes.
